Abstract: »This study presents the laws related to legal abortion in Latin American, countries focusing on the Brazilian case. For this, a bibliographic study was carried out of authors relevant to the subject as well as documents and legislations. The debate on abortion in Brazil resumed in the 2000s gaining prominence with different points of view and flags of fights. The growing wave of debates in which religious and moral discourses that act in the opposite perspective of abortion prevails, makes it impossible to understand the autonomy of women to decide the issues of their own body, including not to proceed with an unwanted pregnancy. As much as parliamentarians in favor of the legalization of abortion include in their agendas the expansion of this right, they still find barriers to a more consistent mobilization with other legislators.« (Source: Serpos)
